As Maine House prepares to take up gay marriage bill, AP reports on legal differences between marriages and state's domestic partnerships

Family law attorney Michael Levey
prepared a memo in which he highlighted significant differences in how Maine law treats married couples and domestic partnerships. AP provides "examples of differences" cited in the memo, including those that involve wills and probate, workers' compensation, guardianship, and parental status.
