Maine House OKs gay marriage bill

"AUGUSTA, Maine—After a three-hour debate in which a few lawmakers broke into tears, the Maine House on Tuesday approved a same-sex marriage bill, then sent it back to the Senate for a final vote."

05/05/09 NY Times:

"in Maine and New Hampshire, the governors, both Democrats, will be pivotal in determining whether same-sex marriage proponents succeed in winning over an entire region of the country ... No governor has yet signed a same-sex marriage bill that was not the result of court ruling."
