Howard Rice appellate lawyer Steve May on Strauss v. Horton

06/02/09 The California Constitution:

Although I continue to update reaction to the Strauss ruling, I want to highlight this post by appellate practitioner Steve Mayer. He contends that the decision is not about same-sex marriage, but "about how, and under what circumstances, the California Constitution can be changed." He identifies "three quite practical reasons" why the Court upheld Proposition 8. His observations strike me as novel.

(I work for the same law firm as Steve Mayer. Of course, I represent just my own views.)
